Poomala Dam is an irrigation dam in Poomala village, Thrissur district, Kerala.

It lies about 12 km east of Thrissur town. It falls under Mulankunnathukavu Panchayath in Puzhakkal block.

A division weir was built in the Poomala Valley in 1939, and the Poomala reservoir was commissioned in 1968.

The dam was first built only for irrigation and was managed by the Minor Irrigation Department.

It stands 94.50 metres above mean sea level. The dam has four shutters, and its maximum water level is 29 feet. During heavy rain the shutters are raised and residents along the Malavayi stream are told to stay alert.

The dam is also a tourist spot. The District Tourism Promotion Council began a beautification project in 2008, and the dam was officially declared a tourist centre on 21 March 2010.

The site now has a 600 m walkway with handrails, a community hall, a cafeteria and toilet facilities. Visitors come in the monsoon to see the water and greenery, and can enjoy boating and the park on the bank.
