“I will sing to the Lord, because he has won a glorious victory; He has thrown the horses and their riders into the sea.
The LORD is my strong defender; he is the one who
has saved me. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God and will
sing about his greatness."
Exodus 15: 1-3
The Song of Victory.
After crossing the Red Sea, Moses and the Israelites broke into song, praising God for delivering them from Pharaoh's army. The heart of these verses is simple: the victory belonged to the Lord, not to Israel's strength.
Three truths stand out:
God is our strength and salvation.
The Israelites didn't fight; they walked through the sea on dry ground. What they couldn't do, God did.
He is personal.
"He is my God," they sang, not just a distant deity. Gratitude turns deliverance into relationship.
He fights for His people.
Verse 3 calls Him a warrior. The same God who defeated Egypt is still able to defend and carry us through what feels impossible.
Takeaway:
When you face your own "Red Sea," remember that the God who brought Israel through is the same one who walks with you.
Let your praise come after the rescue, and even before it, trusting He will do it again.
