There are times in life when we may feel discouraged, disappointed, lonely, or overwhelmed by circumstances. We may wonder how we will face the days ahead or whether our situation will ever change. During such moments, God's Word reminds us that we are not alone.
“Do Not Fear, for I Am With You”
God gives us a beautiful promise in Isaiah 41:10:
“Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
God does not promise that we will never experience difficulties. Instead, He promises His presence, strength, help, and support when we go through them.
When discouragement makes us feel weak, we can remember: God is with us.
When we feel unable to continue, He promises to strengthen us.
When we do not know what to do, He promises to help us.
And when we feel that we are falling, He promises to uphold us.
Therefore, we do not need to allow fear to control our hearts. Our circumstances may change, but God's presence remains constant.
“The Lord Is Close to the Brokenhearted”
Psalm 34:17–18 gives another comforting assurance:
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
There may be moments when we feel that nobody understands our pain. But God sees what is happening in our hearts.
When we cry out to Him, He hears us.
When our hearts are broken, He is near.
When our spirit feels crushed, He does not abandon us.
Sometimes God's help comes by changing a situation. At other times, He gives us the strength to endure it and guides us through it. Whatever form His help takes, we can trust His faithfulness.
Do Not Give Up
Discouragement can make us focus only on what is wrong today. But faith helps us remember who God is.
If you are discouraged today, do not think that your present situation is the end of your story. Continue to pray. Continue to trust God. Continue to seek His Word.
You may not see the answer yet, but God is still with you.
You may feel weak, but God can strengthen you.
You may feel brokenhearted, but God is near to you.
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but God holds tomorrow.
A Prayer for Someone Who Is Discouraged.
Heavenly Father,
When my heart is discouraged and I feel weak, help me to remember that You are with me. Give me strength when I feel unable to continue and courage when I am afraid.
When my heart is broken, draw me closer to You. Help me to trust Your promises even when I cannot understand my circumstances.
Thank You for hearing my prayers and for never abandoning me. Help me to place my burdens in Your hands and continue walking with faith and hope.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Whatever you may be facing today, remember the promises of Isaiah 41:10 and Psalm 34:17–18.
God is with you.
God will strengthen you.
God will help you.
God hears you.
God is close to the brokenhearted.
Therefore, do not lose heart. Keep trusting Him, keep praying, and keep holding on to His Word.
Your present difficulty does not change God's faithfulness.
