When the Lord saw how wicked everyone on the earth
was and how evil their thoughts were all the time, He was sorry that he had
ever made them and put them on the earth. He was so filled with regret that he
said, “I will wipe out these people I have created, and also the animals and
birds, because I am sorry that I made any of them.” But the Lord was pleased
with Noah.
Genesis 6: 5-8
Grace in the Midst of Judgment.
Humanity had drifted so far that every inclination of the heart was evil continually. God saw it, and Scripture says He was grieved. Yet verse 8 turns the whole story: "But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord."
Three truths stand out:
God sees the heart.
He isn't indifferent to sin or suffering. His grief shows He cares deeply about us.
Sin is serious.
The passage reminds us that a heart left to itself drifts away from God, and that drift has consequences.
Grace is the turning point.
Noah didn't earn favor by being flawless. He found it, and his faith led him to walk with God when the world didn't.
Even when the world around you feels broken, God's grace is still available. Seek His favor, walk faithfully, and trust that one life surrendered to Him can make a difference.
